and farms, pagoda, the best
way to experience the
"true" Vietnamese
countryside. Through
countryside trails, villages
towns and farms. This
countryside tour offers you
a fascinating insight into
the "real lives" of everyday
people who are the backbone
of Vietnam. Stop for photos
at the rice fields along the
road within the hamlet. It
depends on the seasons; you
may see how local farmers
plant or harvest the rice.
Farming is the local peoples
main job. Cycling through
miles of flat rice fields to
a rural village, enjoy the
opportunity to interact with
the local people as they go
about their daily lives,
with farming and cottage
industries as their primary
source of income.
The village path leads us to
the home of one family
who weave mats from
rushes which grow abundantly
in the surrounding area. The
whole family live on mat
weaving. Two people working
together will weave just
four mats in a day, which
will be taken to the local
market and traded for food
and other essentials.
Pagoda Orphanage:
where it shelters and cares
for over 130 abandoned,
orphaned or street children.
They range from several
months to 9 years of age.
The children of the
orphanage are taken care of
by a group of Buddhist nuns
and volunteers. Their goal
is to provide the children
with a safe and caring
environment which lessens
their misfortune and gives
their lives greater purpose
and meaning. Being a private
organization, the orphanage
is trying to provide its
children food, shelter,
health and education. The
nuns and volunteers at the
orphanage have devoted their
lives for the wonderful
mission - helping the
orphans. You will learn
about the Vietnamese
educational system, and you
can play and sing with the
little children.
Rice paper making:
One of the most typical food
from rice steamed and
processed into round piece
dried in the sun on the
bamboo brackets that are on
sale in the inns or shops.
Conical hat making village:

it's also your gift for your
friends when toward home.

Great cycle tour
We had a very lovely day
cycling around the villages- we made lots of interesting
stops (school, temple, Buddha statue, local hat making,
local rug making, rice paper factory)... The cycle was
sporty but very manageable and the bikes were very
lovely. Pham was a great tour guide and knew a lot about
nha trang and the surrounding villages. The lunch was
also absolutely delicious! Would recommend!
Countryside Cycling great day with Dung Pham
Fantastic day spent cycling
on well equipped BMX Hybrid bikes (suitable for terrain)
with Dung Pham. While it is flat a reasonable level of
fitness is required. Dung knows the place like the back
of his hand, very attentive to requests and questions on
local living and history. Excellent program included
visits to the local orphanage that is growing with
funding and teacher assistance, mat making, rice paper
making, conical hat making, big Buddha statue and a
memorable mud and mineral bath. Lunch is provided at a
river restaurant with commanding views of the
countryside and great Vietnamese food (including
seafood). Would highly recommend for couples or larger
groups of up to 5-6 people
“Great day on the bikes”
Took the bike ride into the country out of Nha Trang
with Pham in the lead. We had a great day - visiting the
local sights and 'industry' (hat making, rice paper
manufacture, ...). Plenty of stops for refreshments. And
a highlight was the lunch spot by the river, just before
we rode back into town - one of those places that you
need a local to find (given we were the only
non-Vietnamese people at the restaurant).
The ride is a little challenging - around 35 km, but
pretty flat (only the one real hill leading up to the
Buddha). Cycling and navigating thru the Nha Trang
traffic was interesting, but we never felt in any real
danger.
A great day, and it was great to spend the day with Pham
(and enjoy the hospitality of Pham and his wife in their
home after we'd finished the ride). Thanks for a great
day.
